Hill Street Playground was commenced in 1995 by erecting a fence around
the Kindy. From then on 'Leo' the Train was restored and all the
grounds received a mammoth upgrade. Underground cabling, water
pipes etc took place, and eventually the Club raised enough money with
the help of the Community to purchase some equipment, and make the
swings etc. The only piece of equipment retained was the Slippery
Dip and this was also over hauled to safety standards.
From 2006 to present day, the Club has spent money on new equipment from funds raised in the Thrift Shop, and also money gained by maintaining the grounds. Light Regional Council also assisted and now we have one of the best playgrounds around the state.

The Lions Club Thrift Shop has been a major project of the Club since March 2000. Some of the Lions Ladies and Lions Partners helped in the shop prior to March, and the opportunity came that the Lions Club take over the running of the shop, and also the funds raised.
The Shop is run by Lions Ladies, Partners and also Community Volunteers from organisations and Church Groups in the town. It gives these groups the opportunity to raise funds for their individual causes, as the Kapunda Lions Club donates money to them at the end of the year for their services rendered.
The Shop is situated in Kapunda Street, next to the RSL Club and adjacent to the Prince of Wales Hotel. Previously to this location, we were located in Clare Road but the premises were in need of urgent repair, and we were offered the CAFHS rooms which were greatly received.
During the year the Lions have the opportunity to promote the shop by holding a Fashion Parade in the CWA Rooms and last year held a parade at the Kapunda Farm Fair.
The Lions rely on donations from the Kapunda Community and surrounds for goods to sell in the Shop. We receive clothes, bric-a-brac, books and resell them to the Community. The Shop is open from 10 to 4pm Monday to Friday, and 10-12noon on Saturday mornings. Anyone wishing to donate goods can deliver them to the shop within those hours.
On a regular basis throughout the year, we aid the Australian 4WD Radio Network to post out their Newsletters and renewals. A group of Lions and partners all meet at Lion Dave & Ros's home, and assemble the newletters ready for postage. They are then transported to Adelaide for postage to their members.
These project began in September 2000 and is current to this day.
